Europe is already planning the post-pandemic of Covid-19. Ursula Von Der Leyen’s Green Deal presented in December 2019 takes on its full meaning today.

Even if some countries have not reached their epidemic peak, the time has come for the post-crisis period.

ENVI Meeting – EU Strategy on adaptation to climate change

Pascal Canfin, MEP launched an initiative in favor of the environment to “ Build a shared reflection on post-crisis green investment plans ”.

A call for the global alliance was launched in a column published in several European newspapers, because even if the whole world finds itself in a delicate and unprecedented situation, covid-19 has not chased away the climate crisis. This call brings together more than 180 European personalities such as ministers, MEPs, business leaders, associations, trade union federations, NGOs, but also celebrities! Its aim is to propose long-term solutions aimed at reviving the economy with green plans.

If we restart the economy in the wrong direction, we will go even faster into the wall of the climate crisis. This is why we are gathering the energies for a green recovery “, said Pascal Canfin, President of the Environment Committee of the European Parliament Pascal Canfin (Renew Europe, centrists and liberals).

Some personalities nevertheless remain vigilant in the face of this craze for unity, and for good reason: several companies/lobbies who are signatories to this global alliance exert enormous pressure or have stood out for requests for the relaxation of environmental rules from institutions concerning Euro environmental standards and ambitions.
And yet, several artists join the call of scientists for a ” no return to normal ” after the Coronavirus crisis. They challenge leaders and citizens to profoundly change lifestyles, consumption and economies. Dozens of petitions are circulating among the entire population to make the desired change heard and rally them to this urgent awareness.

Can this crisis, which is still not behind us, make us evolve and become aware of the importance of reacting to the many worrying alerts from scientists?
